Hello!
I’m Barbara, the founder, maker, and heart behind Bright Horse and Bright Hound.
I design and handcraft bespoke tack for horses and dogs — practical, colourful, and made with care right here in Ireland.
But truly, it’s a labour of love.
I’ve always loved making things, and the idea for Bright Horse and Bright Hound came directly from my clients — people working with horses and dogs with behavioural challenges.
I wanted to support them by creating gear that made ethical, effective training easier and more affordable.
Every time I searched for a "long lead" to recommend… there was nothing quite right for my clients training.
So, I started making them — first for my own animals, then for my clients.
My Background
My day job is as an accredited Clinical Animal Behaviourist (APBC, ABTC) and Equitation Science Coach (ISES) with a passion for compassionate, science-based care.
I hold a Master’s (MSc) in Equine Science and a Bachelor’s degree (BSc) in Zoology.
I specialise in animal learning theory, behavioural science, and positive training methods.
Based in beautiful Kildare, Ireland, I’m fully insured and dedicated to helping horses — and their humans — build happier, more harmonious partnerships.

Why I Create
Bright Horse and Bright Hound grew from a simple belief:
That good equipment should support good training — not get in the way of it.
Every halter, collar, lead, and rope I create is designed to be functional, ethical, and a joy to use.
Handmade, durable, and carefully thought through, these products are for everyday use, real-world training, and building better communication between you and your animal.
